Course Overview

The Virginia Infection Prevention Training Center's Foundational Course in Infection Prevention & Control is designed for those starting out in their careers in healthcare and who require focused education on infection prevention and control (IPC) concepts. This course provides specialized training on vital infection prevention subjects including vaccines, hand hygiene, microbes, personal protective equipment, waste management, and cleaning & disinfection. 

This is an on-demand course with a maximum of 6.75 CE credits. Students will be prompted to log in or create an account with Canvas in order to access the course materials.

Target Audience

The target audience for this course includes frontline healthcare professionals, beginner-level infection prevention professionals, and physician healthcare epidemiologists. Beginner-level infection prevention professionals are those with no to little practice or fieldwork experience with IPC concepts and who are just starting to participate in and gain knowledge of IPC through specialized training.
